Internet users ask for more data protection on the internet




The Spanish Agency for Data Protection has registered an increase of 36.8% in complaints filed with the agency in relation to the processing of data on the Internet in the last two years, going from 557 in 2015 to 762 in 2017.

An increase in interest in private information in the network that concerns nine out of ten Spaniards, according to the AIMC Q Panel study on online advertising, carried out by the Association for Media Research (AIMC).

For its part, the AEPD has indicated that there were "numerous" cases of previous actions initiated by the agency from the dissemination of data from third parties, intrusions on relevant websites or, in general, security breaches on the Internet, to the that the subsequent complaints of those affected are incorporated.

In general terms, 10,651 complaints and claims for protection of rights were filed with the Agency in 2017 (7,997 complaints and 2,654 complaints), which represents a slight increase compared to the previous year (+ 1.22%).

There has also been a decrease in complaints and claims that are in process at the end of the year, which decreased by 33.37% compared to the values ??of 2016. Regarding the complaints and claims resolved in 2017, the figure reaches 11,617, 9.77% more than in the previous year.

In terms of undue inclusion in delinquency files and irregular contracting, they represent almost 30% and 15%, respectively, of the sanctioning resolutions made by the Agency in 2017.
