This way, drones will avoid multitudinous fights

Eye in the Sky uses these devices as a video surveillance tool in large and crowded public places

The University of Cambridge and Parrot have joined forces to create a system to control crowds from the sky and avoid situations and violent behavior.

An investigation that has finalized in the creation of Eye in the Sky, that identifies the people detected by the camera of the drone and uses through the cloud of Amazon the tool of deep learning ScatterNet Hybrid to analyze the corporal positions of the people.

By analyzing the position and angle of the arms and legs, the system detects in real time five different violent behaviors, including punching, stabbing, shooting, kicking and strangulation.

To warn of these behaviors, the technology uses its own database with 10,863 images of people involved in fights. In addition to the University of Cambridge, researchers from the Warangal Institute of Technology and the Bangalore Scientific Institute, both from India, participated in its development.

The accuracy of Eye in the Sky is 94.1% in cases in which there is only one violent person and 90.6% in cases where there are two aggressors.

The system, however, reduces its effectiveness as the number of violent people increases , reaching 84% when the aggressors are five.
