The apps that teenagers have to say no

Security experts create a list of applications that put the safety of minors at risk

Nine out of ten 15-year-old Spanish minors have a mobile device, according to data from the latest Survey on Equipment and Use of Information Technology and Communication in Households, TIC-H 2017, conducted by the National Institute of Statistics (INE)

The penetration rate of the smartphone in Spanish society reaches almost 100% and access to the first mobile phone every time is earlier, even falling below ten years in the smallest.

Rapid access to technology that transfers a complicated task to families that involves alerting the Network of networks of the dangers and inconveniences. The Panda Security experts have created a list of applications that are detrimental to the privacy of children and "should not have on their phones."

"The majority of adolescents think that they control their environment, which leads them to carry out actions on their backs and against the warnings of their parents," the security experts point out. Therefore, these applications are characterized mostly by hiding some aspect or data.

Just as there are many applications in Android and Apple virtual stores to protect minors and help parents or guardians to 'keep their children close', developers have created tools to hide information from the elderly.

One of them and that the experts of Panda Security point out as one of the applications that should disappear from the virtual desktops of minors is Poof. This tool tricks the geolocation system of other mobiles, since it allows hiding the location to the parents.

Although among the 'benefits' that Poof highlights in his description 'calculate how much would cost a bike rental or indicate points of reference to meet friends'. The app is focused on hiding the geolocation to other devices.

In line with this latest application, Vaulty and Hide It are available to children. Both base their performance on hiding information from the device to other users. The first allows you to block and protect photos and videos with a password. In addition, this software makes a photo to who is wrong when writing the password.

For its part, Hide It Pro is an application for volume control and music equalization, but if you keep the icon pressed, a secret screen appears. It works in a similar way to Vaulty, since it allows to hide videos, messages and also other apps.

Panda has also warned about Whisper and has identified the app as a breeding ground for a high amount of false news. Kik Messenger also appears in the messenger, in which it is not possible to verify the sender's identity and that it can serve as stalkers.

Finally, Down is a kind of Tinder that connects with Facebook to make a classification of people with whom to link. The application is defined on its download page on Google Play as "the secret way to go out or catch up with people who are nearby."
